Teaching

Teaching:

Whether a pupil wishes to learn an instrument with the aim of becoming a professional musician, or to play for pleasure, there are a number of steps we take with all of our pupils:

Establish the basics of good practice, which will stand the pupil in good stead in which ever direction they may wish to go.

'Learn how to learn', by providing the pupil with a good understanding of music, as a foundation to use as they continue to play in years to come.

Our courses support music in the National Curriculum, and many adhere to the requirements of the National Qualifications Framework - success in exams can count as additional passes at CGSE and A level, and as points for UCAS entry into University.

Teachers:

All our teachers go through a careful selection process. They are interviewed, and need to show their skills in all our required key areas. Once we feel they are the right person for the school, they move onto the next stage.

Teacher Training:

Before any teacher takes their first lesson, they will have undergone extensive training to teach their course.

But it doesn't stop there! A key part of the school is the ongoing training that all our teachers receive - and before any teacher moves on to teach a new part of their chosen course, there is always further training given.

In addition, teachers have written lesson plans, and regular reviews are made of lessons and the teaching that takes place.

In this way, we can offer a high assurance of quality music teaching.
