No-one likes reading terms and conditions, but as it is our intention to provide the best possible service to all our students at Finchley Music School, we need to set them out: 1. To book a place in a class, a non returnable payment is required as detailed on our fees page. This payment secures you a place and pays for the initial course materials which contain everything the pupil needs for the initial part of their learning. Materials are issued at the first lesson and no money is actually taken until we are certain a class will run. Fees may be varied from time to time, subject to us giving you a minimum notice of 4 lessons. 2. Fees are paid monthly by debit/credit card or standing order. Full details of fees are on our fees page. Payments must NOT be stopped while lessons are continuing without prior agreement with the school. Fees may be varied from time to time, subject to us giving you a minimum notice of 4 lessons. You agree to pay for all goods and services we provide. 3. Group lessons are taught in groups of up to 8 for guitar and up to 10 for keyboard, lasting 1 hour. 4. We may amalgamate classes when necessary. 5. Examinations are part of the syllabus, but not compulsory. They are accredited by Yamaha, Trinity College of Music or Rock School and provide an opportunity to build confidence and provide valuable points for entry into educational establishments. The exam boards charge fees for the exams which need to be paid by the due date. 6. In the event of a teacher not being able to teach on a particular day, we will provide an alternative teacher or offer a make up lesson. Where it is not possible for a pupil to attend a make up lesson, the value of this lesson will be credited to the pupils account. 7. Refunds for lessons missed by pupils are not given. This teaching method is most successful when pupils attend every lesson. We encourage pupils who miss a lesson to ask their teacher for a make up lesson. 8. Pupils will need to purchase course materials such as progressive tutor books when required, and to pay for any exams they may take, by the due date. 9. When a pupil has been enroled in the school they remain so until formally withdrawn. Failure to attend classes does not constitute formal withdrawal. Pupils may be formally withdrawn from lessons at any time subject to giving us 4 working weeks notice in writing, i.e., the four lessons following our receipt of notice from you must be paid for. This gives us time to deal with any necessary adjustments for staff and classes. The notice must state if the pupil will or will not be attending lessons during the notice period. Not withstanding the above, we will consider a pupil withdrawn where they have missed six consecutive lessons, which must be paid for as well as the four week notice period, unless otherwise agreed with the pupil or representative. 10. Where the pupil will be attending the four lessons required during the notice period, the account will be closed at the end of the notice period. Those paying by Credit/Debit card will have any outstanding debts charged to their Credit/Debit cards, and our collection of regular payments will be stopped at this time. For all others, any outstanding debt must be cleared within 30 days. Where this debt is not cleared, we will add our reasonable costs to the outstanding debt, including legal fees. Any refunds due by us will be made at this time. 11. Where the pupil will not be attending during the 4 week notice period, an amount equivalent to the 4 lessons will be added to the pupils account. Those paying by Credit/Debit card will have any outstanding debts charged to their Credit/Debit cards, and our collection of regular payments will be stopped at this time. For all others, any outstanding debt must be cleared within 30 days. Where this debt is not cleared, we will add our reasonable costs to the outstanding debt, including legal fees.. Any refunds due by us will be made at this time. 12. We only accept responsibility for the safety of students once they are under the teachers’ supervision, within the class room. Parents should escort children to the lesson, and pick them up at the end of the lesson. Outside the class room, we may use CCTV to monitor activity to ensure the safety of our students and visitors. We do not supervise childrens visits to the toilets. 13. These terms and conditions may be updated from time to time. You will be notified of any changes in advance. If you do not agree with any change to these terms and conditions you are entitled to terminate the lessons by providing us with 4 lessons notice, in writing. Terms and Conditions may be viewed on the Web site at any time.
